Knoxville Pressure Regulators

A pressure regulator is one of the most important pieces of plumbing equipment at your home, perhaps even the most important. A pressure regulator is the "high blood pressure" medicine for your water piping system. High water pressure is dangerous to your home & plumbing system!
To protect your home, The Uniform Plumbing Code section 608.2 mandates Where local static water pressure is in excess of eighty (80) pounds per square inch, an approved type pressure regulator shall be installed and the pressure reduced to eighty (80) pounds per square inch or less.
Excessive water pressure could result in the following problems....
- Broken or burst pipes, resulting in flooding.
- Damage to your washing machine, dishwasher, or icemaker.
- Running toilets, wasting hundreds of gallons of water.
- Excessive faucet washer wear and premature failure.
- Faucets hard to turn off.
- "Water Hammer" (Banging pipe sounds).
- Leaking sprinkler valves.
- Single control faucets leaking at the handle and / or hard to shut off.
- Continual sounds of running water.
- High water bills. Along with a pressure regulator, a temperature and pressure relief valve is required, as per section 608.3. If the water pressure is very high, an expansion tank may be required. A properly installed pressure regulator can eliminate many plumbing problems, saving you money in the long run. If you have any questions or concerns about your home, give us a call.
